FAQ

What Brighten will never do ?

To help keep you safe, there are some things we will never ask you to do in an unsolicited email, SMS, phone call or message:

  • Share your password, PIN or secure access code
  • Grant remote access to your computer, phone or other device
  • Log in to your account using a link sent via email or SMS
  • Make a payment through an unusual payment method or transfer assets urgently
  • Move money to a “safe” account
  • Help us catch cyber criminals by transferring funds or sharing sensitive information
  • Share your screen or download remote access software

If you receive a request like any of the above, it could be a scam. Stop, verify the request through a trusted channel, and never share sensitive information unless you’re certain who you’re dealing with.

How to verify contact from Brighten?

Scammers sometimes impersonate lenders and financial institutions. If you receive unsolicited contact that appears to be from Brighten and you’re unsure whether it’s genuine:

  • Do not click any links in the message
  • Contact us directly via our official website or the phone number on your loan documents
  • You can also verify through another trusted source, such as your financial adviser

Never use contact details provided in the suspicious message itself.

Stay informed

Scam tactics evolve constantly. We encourage all customers to stay up to date on the latest threats through resources such as ScamWatch and IDCare.

Stop. Check. Protect.

Three simple steps to help you stay safe from scams and fraud.

Stop.
Take a moment before you act.

If a call, email, text message or social media post doesn’t feel right, pause and think carefully. Scammers often create a sense of urgency to pressure you into making quick decisions.

Check.
Verify the request.

Before sharing information, making a payment or clicking a link, confirm the request is genuine. Contact the organisation directly using their official website, app or phone number.

Protect.
Take action if you’re unsure.

If something doesn’t seem right, don’t engage. Hang up, delete the message, block the sender, and report the suspicious activity where appropriate.

Remember: If you’re ever unsure, it’s always safer to stop and verify before taking action.
